CURRENT OPENINGS:

FIREFIGHTER/EMT – The Tryon Fire Department is seeking applications for a Firefighter/EMT position. This fulltime position is an overnight shift from 12am to 8am Monday through Friday. The initial base salary is set between $25,000 and $28,500 per year depending on qualifications at the time of employment. This position includes an attractive benefits package.

Duties include responding to all emergency calls, completing station duties, completing documentation, interacting with and responding to public, and other duties as assigned.  Must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license with no major violations, and high school diploma.

Applicants shall be a North Carolina State Certified Firefighter II, have a State EMT-Basic certification or higher, and be a North Carolina State Certified Rescue Technician. Any individual lacking one or more of these credentials will be required to complete the Firefighter II curriculum in eighteen to twenty-four months; the EMT-Basic curriculum in twelve to eighteen months; and the rescue technician curriculum
in twenty-four to thirty-six months from the date of their employment.

Applicant is expected to be a North Carolina State Certified Hazardous Material Responder Level I within twelve months from the date of employment.

PART TIME ADMIN ASSISTANT – The Town of Tryon is accepting applications for a part time administrative assistant. The salary range is $10/hr to $15/hr depending on qualifications. This position requires 20 hours per week with some flexibility granted.
Duties include filing, billing collections, maintaining weekly/monthly reports, administrative support to staff, managing special projects, coordinating meetings, working with and responding to the public, and other duties as assigned.
Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

PUBLIC WORKS – The Town of Tryon is seeking applications for a Public Works position. The fulltime position has a salary range from $24,000 to $30,000 based on experience. This position includes an attractive benefits package including retirement, 401k match, health insurance, and more.

Duties include assisting public works crews on pipe and street repair, meter reading, mowing, maintaining reports, interacting with and responding to public, and other duties as assigned.

Must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license with no major violations, and high school diploma or equivalent.
