Zoning permits are required for construction projects, business openings, changes in land or building use, and the erection of any sign. Zoning permits are issued at Town Hall and must be obtained before applying for a building permit. For a list of fees, click here.   Information regarding zoning issues is available by contacting Joey Davis at 828.859.9566.

Polk County Building Inspection Department provides all building permit information and building inspection services. The Town of Tryon owns Lake Lanier and has a Lake Use Ordinance. Prior to any construction of a dock, boathouse, or any structure over the water a building permit or other official document must be obtained from Greenville County, SC Codes Enforcement (Ph# 864.467.7016) prior to a permit from the Town of Tryon being issued.  Please note - zoning permits obtained from the Town do not exclude or excuse parties from obtaining, and properly displaying, permits required by the Polk County or Greenville County building inspector.
