The Tryon Fire Department provides fire protection services. A paid Chief is supplemented with volunteer officers and firefighters. The area served by the department includes the Town of Tryon, Tryon Township and the northern portion of Greenville County, South Carolina around Lake Lanier.

The department maintains mutual aid agreements with all Polk County Fire Departments and Landrum Fire Department in South Carolina. Tryon Fire Department maintains a maintenance program for its 200 plus hydrants. The department also provides fire inspections to businesses by a N.C. State Certified Fire Inspector. The department presently holds a Class 5 rating with the Insurance Service Office (ISO).
